I painted a picture of a winter tree with an owl on it. One of my favorite parts of my painting is my light blue background. As you can see I added white and black to show the full color scale of light blue. I chose light blue because I thought this color would be best to show a cold, winter scene. The background took me a while, but I love how it turned out. The hardest part for me was making a realistic looking tree because of all the little branches. I really enjoyed this painting style, I like how it made things pop and contrast to each other! I did make some mistakes in my painting, but overall I am happy with the way it turned out, and I like the painting style I used to create it. -Paige DeMarco 9th Grade Student
Zentangle is an easy-to-learn way of creating beautiful art from repetitive patterns, structured and contained doodles. Studio Art students chose an object of their choice to fill with Zentangle patterns. Patterns needed to show value.
Students learned about the artist Henri Matisse and how later in his career he became ill so he started creating art by “painting with scissors.” They also learned about how to create composition in art and applied this to their art folders. They used scissors and paper to create four layers. The first layer was cutting geometric shapes for the background; the second layer was cutting smaller geometric andorganic shapes; the third layer was creating personable images by cutting paper; and the fourth layer was cutting out the letters in their name/nickname.
In Studio Art class the students have been learning about the elements of value and color in art. Each student has been been practicing to create smooth, gradated values to create three dimensional shapes, in a comical way. They also learned about color theory and applied one theory to create watercolor trees with a personal touch. Next the students are on to the element of texture where they will apply all the elements of art (line, shape, form, value, color and texture) to create a still life drawing.
In Studio Art class the students have been busy creating their own custom shoes. We have been introduced to the element of from and are creating three dimensional shoes out of paper. Using the internet we looked at top shoe desiginers and local designers. We looked at Logo's and what the important factors are in making and creating our own logo. Next, it was on to using lines, shapes, and colors to design our shoes. Constructing our shoes needs A LOT of patience but we are trying our best to create an original and creative end product.
